Hostpress start $175,000 fundrising project for the development of the hosting control panel based on WordPress
Daniel Griffiths, one of the developers of Arch Linux, has launched a new campaign on the website Indiegogo, in order to collect $ 175,000 to develop a new control panel servers based on WordPress.
Till now paid products Plesk and cPanel are the market leaders, despite a number of drawbacks: excessive system requirements, a complex mechanism of extensions, complex or expensive upgrades and lack of “branding”.
HostPress project aims to solve these disadvantages and to build the control panel hosting server that will meet all modern standards, including support for mobile devices.
As an engine for the new project, Daniel chose WordPress, and believes that its flexibility and simplicity attract users not only the final product, but also those who wish to develop a new module to the system, because they certainly can be written in the form of simple plugins.
Daniel plans to spend collected funds throughout the year for the maintenance of development team and for other server costs.
For those who will support the HostPress project, Daniel will a mention them on the website, stickers and T-shirts with logos HostPress, access to the product at the stage of alpha and beta testing, and premium support for future installations.
The project will HostPress open source, and is sure to inherit the GPL from the core WordPress.Perhaps Daniel also plans to develop an extension to pay the new control panel.
