The Government’s Digital Transformation Impact — Part 1
The Possible Reflections On Our Daily Lives.
In a Perfect Scenario, a successful digital transformation strategy could lead to a way higher citizen satisfaction, living standards & could impact different blocks of our daily lives.
We will discuss the possible impacts of digital transformation for different governmental entities on The Living Experience, Satisfaction, Planning & Predictions, Economical Effects, Health care, Governmental Performance, National Security, Culture, The Cognitive level, Education, and even The Regime.
Digital Transformation changes the mindset,
The first and The most impactful side is the mindset change. Democratic governments will for sure adapt to the change faster than the rest. But through the time any kind of governments mindset will change.
Why? Through injecting the innovation in the culture and the lifestyle, soon or later the citizen mindset will change. that will shape a soft force for a governmental mindset change.
It is about building a citizen with the required knowledge to take the right choice, to understand the risks and see things clearer than ever. That will not solve the philosophical election problem, but at least it will help.
Governments & Capitalism Era,
Many of Governments trade its services today as a business. It is not something new, but spotting the light on new aspects such as customer experience and defining clear digital transformation strategies for the governments will be a key enabler for the governments to gain more profits and earn a higher customer (citizen) satisfaction.
Cutting Services Fees,
Such alternative solutions (digital platforms) can cut & isolate the loss of fees,
It’s time to ask how governments collect and spend money?
There are too many ways, but let’s focus on the governmental services for now and let’s take this example from Egypt,
If you want to issue a new National ID, you need to visit a governmental office, then buy stamps, and a printed document with a specific form — and the prices of both are way higher than its production value — and then you can submit your request. Profitable?
Yup for sure, but with digital services, the government can cut many production fees such as the stamp and the printed files production fees, and for sure they can offer another service which is delivery — and such small new service can avail new job opportunities as well. And it’s just an example.
Election & Voting Experiences,
We invest usually a huge amount of money and Human Resources that could be saved by digitizing the election operation. But it’s not the ultimate goal.
Improvements should go further, think about educating the voters. provide the details about the candidates’ promises through there programs and how it will affect voters daily lives for example. To achieve that let’s split the voting operation into three major stages:
- Interactive Presidential candidate program: one solution, that contains all the candidate programs details, which will be shown as a summary with the ability to dig deeper within each sector, for example, education — to learn more about the initiatives, promises and plan he prepared and its timeline.
- Programs Comparison: the ability to compare each candidate’s program with the rest — in a clear, simple, view depending on visualizing and categorizing the data as much as possible.
- Live results show: No corruption, imagine streaming the live results on big AD screens on streets till the operation ends. Think about an API for TV/Web use.
- Highly secured systems: & Methods, there are too many technologies that can help these days.
- Monitoring and evaluation: yup, based on time and target (which was included on candidate’s program details), it is easy to measure the success and even digging deeper through studying the different dimensions as well.
We all know that digital voting relays on too many risks as well. visually, it is easier to drive people to elect a specific person through UX and UI changes for example. But if we did enough testes, we can achieve accurate results for sure.
The rise of automation and alternative digital solutions & platforms will affect the number of human resources needed to cover offering services. But another question, Are Humans supposedly to spend their lives doing such jobs? could we find the Occasion ethical alternatives?
Historic recurrence, Digital transformation is a new Industrial Revolution. Looking at the past, we can see how much loss many people have had during the transition from primitive societies that are mainly based on the craft to today’s societies that rely primarily on machinery. How many employees lost their jobs, the businesses greed faced by the working class at the time. And many other negative things.
If the ultimate goal is a world filled with creative minds, doing impactful, enlivenment jobs around the world, we might think about the UBI.
We must think carefully of revolutionary solutions to ensure that everyone will not fall into another tragedy in the future, at least.
Just questioning, there is a huge debate on this .. let’s move.
No Chance for Corruption,
Digitizing the different governmental services will block anyway for such behaviour, everything is recorded and tracked. cutting and noticing corruption will be much easier, that will affect the citizen satisfaction, and the government brand image as well.

Things Are Easier Than Ever,
Isolating the loss of human power “cutting the time taken during doing a stupid task, for example, visiting governmental offices” will help to make things work easier and smoother. Such small change on the citizen overall feelings will impact his doability, will rise up his productivity if we communicate encouragement messages on the right time.
That’s right, the idea is to tell the citizen a message after finishing an action like,
we can handle your stuff. hope you a great productive day!
Simple words and messages can do unbelievable change! There are too many examples and here are some inspiring stories:
Check this short research “ Nudging: A Very Short Guide”, it might help.
There are too many stories to read about, google for more 😊
For sure nothing is more important than human life. Measuring and following up the daisies in a geo-location with numbers and recommendations, notifications in urgent cases (using AI for example) will help in Fighting epidemics, saving more lives.
The overall national health care rates highly effect and get affected by other dimensions. This kind of safe feelings and morale, Such an emotional dimension will define and affect many other dimensions especially the economical ones such as the monthly family expenditure, the amount of savings, and extra.
Could the relation be “when I feel safer from the health side, I’ll spend my savings for an unexpected, Emergency future health problem on something else”?
Just a simple question, will people spend more when they feel safe about their health future?
We should also consider the impact of safety and health management as well,
It’s good to mention that higher monthly spending will drive more work to start. People who are healthier will also achieve higher productivity and quality.

The National Security,
Capturing, listening and controlling all the different movements and actions for all people across a specific country relies on too many privacy issues. But if the laws are powerful enough and get implemented without any special cases, it will lead to a much higher level of national security. It is an efficient way for stabilization.
Such a system will help to control the present, predict the future and preparing plans for the upcoming generations.
Ideas & Concepts are too many for example activating a smart national ID linked with your fingerprint which must be used for any kind authentications even buying a sim-card, renting houses, etc. Could control the security side, make things much clearer and easier to be captured.
Technology could serve the National Security in too many ways. Here are some examples,
Google for more 🤓
Planning & Prediction,
Relying on both quantitive and qualitative data analyzing to represent the different status of different resources for the problems management dimensions in a graphical interface which easy to be noticed and understood. that will affects the decisions, it will be more closely to the real world and for sure will help to produce predictions helps to solve the core situation.
Efficient & Effective ..
If every single stack-holder or decision maker has his own data dashboard with the ability of customization, such small thing will help to run and maintain the national vision, considering the hard times, and its hard decisions.
Controllable Central Governments,
Taking a decision from the central governments to solve a specific problem relies on many aspects, which are hard to be communicated or clarified. Using technologies to review and follow-up such problems will help to clarify the different situations on the go. Many ideas are already implemented for the business sectors, and we can re-use it (as it is or re-shape it if we wish).
Last year, I was planning to run a workshop to solve the educational problem in Egypt by using cutting edge technologies. Unfortunately, I did not complete the workshop, but during the early stages of inspiration and field research, analyzing the current situation — quantitative and qualitative, I can say technology is a must. It’s not an alternative anymore.
There are too many students and schools won’t be able to handle the situation any more, the studying materials need to be built from scratch again. The books are not the best way to communicate and educating the current generation and the next ones, even the country won’t be able to keep the basic education free any more and extra and extra!
Education is not the right place to try prototypes or any kind of implementations it should be a polished launch, the solution must be at least 70% accurate, and old mindset won’t be able to achieve this percentage. All the managers and high-level stakeholders for such project must be highly skilled, with a large scale of knowledge and the research must happen before anything. education personalization should be in mind. tracking the educational process should have a top priority.
Implementing the right technological solutions can affect the national future, as well educated human resources will help to keep the country on the right direction, culture, cognitive level, emphasizing the talents, teamwork, freedoms, and that will affect all the different dimensions as well.
Now we can find easily lots of online educational resources which comes out from too many institutions, creating such a system is not something new. But I can imagine how a custom built of tablets help to make all childhood dreams true.
People at MIT are doing a great job, check it out..
National Resources? Mankind is the most valuable resources. Be brave, Build the future pioneers.
Digitalization will affect at some-point on how people think and interact with things, it will rise up their cognitive level, and their culture. for sure there will be negative side effects, but there are too many advantages, at least that will help people understand the technical services in a much better way which will make the digital market more open for new concepts and services, which will affect the economy for sure.
It’s The set of norms, behaviours, beliefs and customs that exist within the population of a sovereign nation.
Besides the technology integration, if there was some talks, events, and ADS for telling people about something like Design Thinking for example that might lead to unbelievable results. at HUED we did some workshops such as Riyadh Service Jam, I was a part of the last one, and I can feel the impact through discussing with people who attended, it was really impactful.
Higher Level Of Cognitive,
People interact with Technology, They learn more about it after a while, They discovered lots of new things, They start to let the technology teach them in lots of different ways. That will lead citizens to have the required skills to understand the context of different topics and situations — a better citizen could be built.
For now, that’s all. part 2 will contain a bunch of points as well, I’ll try to publish it soon.
