WordPress introduced a new Toolbox for theme Development
Components is forked from underscore project. Its main difference is that it is not limited to the basic structure and simplified theme styles, i.e. the output is something more close to the finished theme for WordPress. The composition of Components at the moment includes five different theme types:
- Classic blog
- Modern blog
- Subject portfolio
- magazine theme
- Corporate theme
Each type has some of the features, such as portfolio theme includes record type “portfolio” and the ability to display these records in a grid. Magazine theme has a grid to display popular posts, and corporate theme has a section for customer reviews.
Components project originated from the underscores community, many of which propose changes that are not completely appropriate for all those topics based on underscores, so the developers had to reject such changes.
In Components, this is not a problem, since any change can come in the form of component and apply only to a specific set of starting order based on Components.
Components Website allows you to generate a new topic starting with the specified name. A generator will bring the items of the necessary components in accordance with the selected type. Further, the developer will be able to modify the generated theme to fit your needs, add the required styles and pack into an entirely new theme for WordPress. This toolbox best for directly modifying Starter themes, rather than using them to create child themes.
